Not as bad as I thought it would be - and it has a solid front axle at least. But it's becoming more of a car I'd say... of course this is what the Jeep crowd said about the TJ in 95 of course; but this is really pushing the ball. Monstrous flares, no soft top, complex cuvers in the body (makes body armor pricy); we'll have to see how this one does.

But this does mean that the TJ will get more aftermarket replacement support now that DC is dropping it :D (frames, body panels, transmissions, engines, woooo!)

"There's an electronically detaching front anti-roll bar for extra wheel travel on the trail"

This is a nice feature they have added. Personally I like the way it looks. Only thing that I don't particularly care for is the front fenders. Looks like the entire thing is plastic. No more metal fenders or so it would seem from the pic anyways.

While I would want to see one up close.. the front fenders are not a high point for me.. Jeeps have metal fender! But then again, I suppose you would not have to worry about busting them up as much, and perhaps they might even be cheaper than the metal ones.. LOL sorry what was I think.. of course they will cost more...LOL

It said that there is a soft top (sun rider type version) even half frame doors and you are right about the body, it will take a minute, but there will be parts within a month of so of it being released. :D

I don't think I'll be trading up my YJ for this thing. I don't see much I like about it. Does the windshield fold down? I don't see hinges. I'll have to see one and drive it to know for sure if I like or not.

article says it does. And yeah, I'm curious to see one up close too.

jeeptales 01-06-2006 05:46 PM

Trading up???

I don't think I'm going to trade out of my 2003 Rubicon either...

But mine will be paid off next year and if I can pull it off; I might have to add a new Jeep to the Machado Fleet
.

I like it, it doesn't stray too much from the TJ, which reminds me, what is the designation of the new Wrangler? I am not so sure I like the raked look of the front grill however, I would also like to see on in person.

That is exacty what I was thinking about the grill. The more I look at it, the more I am getting used to it. I need to read the article, I guess. I hadn't taken time to yet.

jjohanski 01-06-2006 08:20 PM

Anyone know the dimensions of this? WB, Width, OAL?

daddyjeep 01-07-2006 11:35 AM

Those full hard doors look a little funny to me. Other that that I don't mind it. It may just be the angle of the picture, but it looks shorter to me...and maybe wider.

kbart 01-07-2006 08:52 PM

Kindof a Hummer/Jeep

Texapple 01-09-2006 08:11 PM

http://jweb.jrations.com/07wrglr/07wrglr_index.php

check here for specs & info
not too sure if I like it or not, I'm waiting to pass judgement until I touch & drive one

jeeptexas 01-09-2006 08:56 PM

man that thing is ugly. im sorry but it looks to modern or something for a jeep

4Jeepn 01-09-2006 09:00 PM

Okay checked out the jrations pic's... just something about the front flares and lack of fenders that is not sitting well with me. I am seeing way too much late 1960's early 70's bronco in this thing, which I think looks good but not on a jeep... test drive needed.

amerijeep 01-09-2006 09:08 PM

These pictures are pretty good. I think I like this thing. There are a couple things that I am critical of, but I am going to reserve final judgement.

Jetcop 01-10-2006 11:17 PM

Oh well

Just glad I bought the 06 Rubicon

whiteyj 01-11-2006 09:19 AM

I dunno, kinda looks like a baby hummer?

kbart 01-11-2006 02:16 PM

I really want to take the bumpers off. At first I thought the sectional hardtop sounded great. With our softtop in the heat of the AZ summer we like to run with the windows (sides and back) out but the top on to protect from the blazing sun. Then at night put them back in when it cools off. You can leave the front seats covered on the 07 but dogs in the back will fry, and you can't haul the back half around all day with you. I wish someone made a hardtop with removable windows, I'd buy that in a second.

tjsooley 01-11-2006 04:05 PM

also jeep's homepage has a link for the auto show and audio + pics for the new wrangler which also has factory option beadlocks

Deez 01-11-2006 05:54 PM

i saw somewhere pics of a 4 door jeep wrangler due in 07... that and a hemi wrangler

1BLKJP 01-11-2006 06:49 PM

Saw some more info on rockcrawler.com today that the shafts on the D44 are now 32 spline instead of 30 and that the front 44 for the Rubicon will be high pinion.

I don't really think they'll stick a hemi off in one of those things. I could be wrong. I'm not sure a Wrangler needs a hemi....

One could dream though.

tjsooley 01-11-2006 07:11 PM

Hemi+ Wrangler + Ultra Low Gears = Rocker Rock Crawler

04moneypit 01-17-2006 04:28 PM

I like it, the hardtop version looks a lot like a shortened jeep rescue. Plus, I'm sure the aftermarket will make a steel fender for it in no time. Still wish DC would put out that jeep gladiator concept pick-up.

TJGreg 01-17-2006 05:10 PM

no hemi, 3.7 L, ugh

moonpie 01-18-2006 11:57 PM

Bummer the end of the 4.0 straight six. I knew it was coming.

Tone 01-29-2006 11:20 AM

It's real boxy though. It will take some getting used to for me I think. I like it, but I still like the current gen Wrangler better....for now. Oh, I have a crazy question. I am in the market for a new Wrangler. Will the general price of the current gen jeeps drop a significant amount when the '07 rolls into showrooms? If that's the case, I might just wait to buy a used one.

jbone303 02-03-2006 07:16 AM

I like the electronic swat bar links and it looks like thay added a ton of speakers. But as for the grill looks like a liberty on crack. I'll keep my tj till the tub rots off and get a new tub. New jeep to mee.
