I don't know if it was a good idea or not to take off my spare tire and the bracket it was on.

i was thinking i didn't need it because the spare i have is only a 30 and i have 32's on it so i just took it off

It looks nice------but man I would hate to get caught with a flat-but if your pretty flush with cash not that big a deal--can always be towed home or buy a new tire or get one fixed.

yeah i know but i don't really have money to put the actual size tire on there that i need.

and i wanted to know what to do about the hole that are left there after you take it off?

So it makes more sense to you to run spareless that to run one a little smaller? I mean if you blow a bead on the trail that 30 will get you back to camp for air or in town it will get you to the tire shop to get your regular fixed... But to each his own I suppose!

The bolts you took out, put them back in. It will keep water and crap out of your tailgate. I ran like this for a while, Had my spare in the tub

As mentioned, replace the screws and inside the tailgate door is a rubber plug that can be put in the hole where the light wires ran.... I painted my screw heads with touch up paint so they matched.... :) (I'm funny like that) I carry towing on my ins, and have road hazard on my tires.... Not as good as a spare, but I like packing less weight and the improved visibility in the rear.... Still a good idea to throw even an off size spare in the back when you wheel so you don't have to get towed off the trail on a flat.....

Or you could carry a couple of cases of Fix-a-flat. Of course your tire guy will hate you forever when you take your tire in for repair and all that goop comes out.

thanks for helping me and i know that i need a spare for trails but i don't really go off road because i'm only 16 and i don't have the money to fix anything if i break it.

I like the way it looks, and the idea of putting the spare in the tub.

Inferno Girl

what happens to the wire for the center stop light?

InfernoGirl 04-13-2011 03:32 PM

It disconnects inside the tailgate door under the black cover on the right by the hinges. Then you can fish them out through the hole where they run through and plug the hole with the plug inside the tailgate.
