My grandpa's old jeepster commando was given to me by my dad last summer. The last time it was registered was in '93 according to the plates. It had been parked on top of a huge hill behind my parents' house since my grandpa passed away.
It has rusted a bit, but is still very much the same as it was when he drove it back then.
The challenge was getting it off of that hill as the jeep won't run without putting fuel straight down the carb and the brakes are nonexistent. The hill is steep enough to require 4x4 to climb. So we chained it to my wrangler with my wrangler behind it to keep it slow going down the hill. The whole operation went as smooth as we had hoped and it was in my driveway in a couple of hours.
It will be a long slow process to get it fixed up but if anyone is interested I can start a build thread. Just expect it to be years until it's competed ; )

There's a few of those running around my area. They are really sweet when restored. Take the time and do it right. It'll be worth it to see the finished project

I started removing old wiring harnesses yesterday. I'll post pics of the new ones before and after install. I plan on installing a fuse block and bringing all the wiring up to more modern standards. Then on to everything else :-)

those are awesome, congrats! what are you going to do with it restore it or 4 link/coilover it?

I want to make it road worthy first and then I'll decide what direction to take. I'm probably gonna leave it kinda rough around the edges because that's the way it was when my grand father drove it and I want it to still feel like his jeep when I'm done. Plus if I make it to nice, I may be afraid to take it wheelin'. ;-)
