Heavy Duty Homemade Hardtop Hoist

3 Attachment(s)
Quick and easy! Very, very heavy duty!

20' 2" steel pipe
1 880# Electric Hoist
20' Slotted Sr. Unistrut
6' Slotted Jr. Unistrut
20' chain
1 mini clevis
4 eyebolts
Misc nuts washers
Pipe insulation
Zip ties
2 ratchet straps

$150 Total.

I know I could have built it cheaper, but I did it right the first time.

Looks nice! I would nail some 2x6 to your trusses at the nail plates. Your trusses werenot designed to carry a load at those points. 2 feet centered on the nail plates will be more than enough. That way you don't have everything come crashing down.

I agree. I plan on laminating 8' 2x6s to them. Note that the 20' stick of 2" pipe hits 4 trusses. So it does spread out some of the weight. Either way it will handle 880#, the capacity of the hoist.

I meant that the pipe spans across 6 trusses to spread the load. TYPO.

Yes I saw that, I just like to be on the safe side. As a home builder, I know the truss companies tend to use the cheapest materials they can. You will enjoy the ease that hoist provides you.
