Speakers with Stock Head Unit

I have a dash speaker vibrating in my 04 and want to replace just the dash speakers. I like the sound that the stock system puts out. What are some good speakers that have the same quality as stock?

Go with round 5.25" coaxial speakers with an adapter plate to replace the 4x6 oval speakers the factory installed and it will sound a lot better. Because your stock system doesn't put out a lot of power, you have to make sure you only install speakers that don't require a lot of power. Polks fit that bill very easily. Stick with speakers with lower max power ratings since they require less power, and if you find speakers that have a 90 dB or higher Sensitivity rating, you've found a good match for your stock system. Polks are easy to find and all the ones I've seen have the 90 dB or higher Sensitivity rating your stock system requires to sound decent.

Cool sounds good Ill go that route. If I were to change out the Speaker pod speakers does the same 90 dcbl rating apply?

Yes because you want the stock unit (low power) to be able to drive them easy.
I would replace all 4 at once, you should notice an improvement in sound quality.

What is the biggest speaker that will fit in the speaker pods? Is an adaptor bracket needed?

Thank you for all of the help.

In the pods you can run up to a 6.25" without trimming. But it depends on the brand of speaker. Some 6.1/4 speakers will fit with no problem others you have to trim the plastic back. I would stay with 5 1/4 the whole way around.

For the front you will need an adaptor to go from the 4x6 to a 5 1/4.

Im sure I've lost some hearing to my Polks. Way worth it.

Cool Thanks Jerry & Scoob,

Im looking at these:
Polk Audio - 5-1/4" Coaxial Speakers with Poly-Mica Cones (Pair) - DXi525

They meet all of your specs...

Nice, the adapters you can get from q-tec or even ebay.

Jeep Wrangler TJ LJ 4x6" to 5.25" Dash Speaker Adapters | eBay

The ebay link is just to give you a reference of what you need for the front and it was the first link I found.

Those are the ones I have. I kept the original speaker covers on mine. No chrome on the Jeep. Plus I didn't want the speakers to look aftermarket.

I don't have the cones inside my dash (if that is what you are talking about). I found some brackets on Ebay and they come raw metal (nothing a rattle can won't fix). Thanks Again Everyone!

6.25" should fit in the pods, that size fit all the previous soundbars that originally came with 5.25.

Check QT as they and others carry all the necessary items your looking for.

If you haven't already ordered the adapters for the front, check with Nalin Manufacturing He's a Jeeper on the forum and ships next day, makes a superior product, and is an all around good guy... Come to think of it, the ones you found on ebay are probably his... :)
