The new line of Warn winches...

Warn has a new series of winches out,the VR series. Now i had the Warn M8000 picked out until i saw these, they look nice, made by warn, and a quit a bit cheaper.Has anyone herd anything about of these?Do u think warn went to china?

Heres a link to the new VR8000.For me its between the M8000 and the VR8000,what do u guys think. Also there is a $80 rebate on all warn winches through quadratec.

I was wondering the same thing. It is hard to imagine them coming out with a winch that cheap that was made in the states.

Jeepzcb09 04-22-2011 07:37 PM

^^exactly thats what im thinking, anyone else?

darkproximity 04-22-2011 07:44 PM

parts were from other countries, but assembled in the states..

The news is here:... | Facebook

Warn's facebook w/info on this winch..

Jeepzcb09 04-22-2011 08:07 PM

what would u guys get then?? M8000 or vr8000

darkproximity 04-22-2011 08:14 PM

guess it depends on your wallet.. if warn will replace broken parts of their winches.. then i say get the cheaper one, break them all day long if they're gonna get fixed lol more gas and beer money with the leftovers :P

The cost difference between the M8000 and the new VR8000 is only 60 Bucks if it were a couple hundred then maybe... Plus things like Winches I have a lifeboat take on it. Would you trust your life or your families life to a $200 lifeboat instead of saving a little longer for the $1,000 one. Would suck to be on a trail winching out of a hole and it not work but hey we saved $60. Just my .02 cents.

Looks like a smittybilt to me with the warn name lol...

Jeepzcb09 04-23-2011 04:34 PM

From what the warn facebook link says all warn winches are made that way, componets from other countries and assembled in the usa, if thats true why not save a few bucks and get the cheaper one?IDK lol

Irongrave 04-23-2011 04:47 PM

IMO the M8000 is a better investment i'm not sure i'd trust the new line of winches for a long line or multi pull operation

Ted_D 04-23-2011 11:05 PM

I had a $1600 Warn M12000 and the motor was stamped "Made in Brazil". I would still choose Warn over any other but I'm sick of hearing this made in America crap when it isn't true. I thought it was sort of funny for a few of their employee's to jump in and also got a few nasty emails. LOL

$60, plus an $80 rebate thru July. Makes it very tempting.:whistling:

I have to agree with the "lifeboat" mentality, though. I don't even buy cheap jeans, why would I buy a cheap winch??
BUT, a cheap winch has a better chance of working than NO winch. Some people (myself included) just can't justify spending $600+ for a "uber" winch.

i asked one of the guys from northridge 4x4 about them and he said they started making them to try and compete with the chinese winches. i told him that they were already competing with the chinese winches and were winning, and that ive never heard anything bad about warn.

Sad to hear about this. Look like our choices are now chinese, or chinese. Atleast thats one thing I can errase off my list to purchase., didn't need a winch anyways.

I think you misread his post, I think he meant the warns are competing with the Chinese...

No, I read it correctly. If they are starting to ship the parts out of the country for a better price, they are eventually going to start shipping them to china. It's all down hill from here. Its sad to say the least.
