Front Drive Shaft U-joint

What size is the U-joint closest to the pumpkin on the front drive shaft of a 2006 TJ Rubicon?

Looking for a Spicer Joint.

U-joint at pinion: Spicer 5-212x which is a 1330 to Saginaw 3R (S44) conversion joint.

U-joint at t-case: Spicer 5-1203x (x2) which is a 1330 joint.

Centering-ball overhaul kit: Spicer 211179x

That's true for the standard Wrangler that uses a 1310 size u-joint, but not true for the Rubicon as the OP has that uses the bigger 1330 size u-joint. :)

So my mechanic in town said the 760 / 795 or 90's / 785 joints do not fit right!

Pretty sure he used the 795 or 90s on the Ball with a new kit inside of it.

I started out with getting 785s, then went to a 760, now to a 795/90 and he replaced it with one from a Chevy.

Well needless to say it is vibrating the hell out of the jeep in 4wd!

so what would be the best one for my 05 TJ with a dana 30 up front?

You're mixing p/ns together that cover two different sizes of your Jeep, the front axle shafts and the driveshafts which take two different types of u-joints.

The TJ's axle shafts use a 297 size u-joint which is the Spicer 5-297x that the factory installs. An upgrade for the axleshaft's 5-297x is the 5-760x.

The driveshaft uses a 1310 size u-joint (NOT the same as a 297 or 760) and a good upgrade for that is the Spicer 5-785x.

Based on what your mechanic has tried and done, I'd fire him and find a more competent mechanic that knows what u-joints go where.
