Places to trail??
Hey all, i live in SW iowa, and theres no place to trail, there was a small trail in my town, but the owner closed it a few days ago because some idiots tore up his field, and now we cant go in, so im looking for places either in iowa or upper MO to trail... any ideas??

I am interested also. I'm new to jeepin an now am going to start looking for some minimum maintenance roads. I am in the des Moines area and used to hunt in sw Iowa. I know there are some down there.

just to let you know if a cop sees u on a level c or b road they will give you a fine now. yes its a public rud but for somereaso they feel if you arent a tractor your mudding ( experience from a friend) just be carefull ur by desmoines just go to miobi

Well, that would be unfortunate. I have run all over them when I am out hunting in SW iowa and have not been hassled. Yes, that is what I see your situation as...bring hassled.

I am looking at joining JOCCI or MIOBI, but since my ride is my DD i dont want to Make It Or Break It. I just want some easy trails to drive on.

I heard JOCCI was not as extreme so I might look into them. In fact, the week I got my Jeep, i pulled into Famous Dave's and a guy from JOCCI came in right after me. He got out and gave me a JOCCI card.

Are you in cedar rapids? Theres a jocci meeting tuesday at 6 my jeep is my dd and i go to miobi and stuff yes mine is lifted but i still stay on stock or low difficulty trails, the farm i heard(joccis place to trail) people break alot there also its all about how you drive take it easy and know your limits you will be fine haha

CyBuzz 07-19-2012 10:45 AM

I am in west des moines. I understand that you will break it if you want to. I have never done any off roading other than what I did with my stock trucks in the past for hunting, pulling out deer, etc. I don't know what the limits of the Jeep are so I am looking for something that is obviously within my limits or I will join a group here and learn. The problem with private land (The Farm) is that I have such a hectic schedule, I dont know how easy it will be to coordinate with a group for wheeling.

I will just have to take it as it comes and get to a JOCCI or MIOBI meeting.

I've was a member of JOCCI and have wheeled at the Farm several times. I have also wheeled down on Dan's property where MIOBI wheels. Both are some what similar in the terrain and both have some easier stuff to wheel on if you don't want to tear your stuff up. Both clubs have a good group of guys and gals that won't steer you wrong.

If you want to see what both grounds are like in one weekend and help out a great cause check out the Wheelers for Warriors event. Here's a link to our site with some info on it, • View topic - Wheelers for Warriors 2012 will be held October 13 and 14. Last year was the first year for it and my wife and I had a blast. There's a car show, parade, wheeling at The Farm and at MIOBI with camping available.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:44 PM.
