Ticking noise when air on

I've noticed a ticking noise coming from underneath the glove compartment when I have the air on (noticeable when low and gets drowned out by the sound when turned up higher).

I decided to try and see if anything got into the blower motor, so I removed it and found nothing. I then plugged it in without reconnecting it to the vents to see if it was making the noise and it didn't make a sound, ran perfectly well. I then put a shop vac up to the vents where the blower motor connects to suck anything out. I put everything back together and it was still making this annoying ticking noise whenever the air was on.

I'm stumped.

Anyone ever experience this or know of a solution? Thanks.

Mine does this even when the air is not on. I found if I turn the temp knob/dial to the red/heat setting it stops and of course it does not do it when the heat is on only the A/C. I was about to take it apart and check it out. Guess I'll wait to see if anyone else has figured it out :)

hmm i have this problem too not sure if it has to do with the air but its a real annoying ticking...

I have the same, I am guessing the fan even though it spun freely. The fan did have some up down play though. Does anyone else have play with the fan? Or is something else generating the ticking?

Maybe the blend door. The door that moves when you adjust the temp or location of the air flow. Does that make sense? Like the other guy said if it goes away when you change the temp one way or the other I would say it is the blend door. The motor on the door is trying to open it to far and isn't hitting the stop on the blend door

the ticking is the ac compressor clutch when the defrost or ac is on. the evap pump also makes a clicking noise.

I don't have ac. May be that door though

Nah, it has nothing to do with the temperature. Anytime any air is flowing the ticking begins. It sounds like when kids used to put baseball cards in their bike wheels.

check to c if its the vacum pump under the hood , it will have like 3 or 4 vacum lines going to it.

My a/c sounds like the blower is powered by an angry badger pushed into action by a cattle prod.

I just never turn it on and take the doors off when I get hot...
