I had read on an earlier thread that you can find out what gears you have by looking at the rear diff. Any clues??

There sholda been a little metal tag attatched to a couple of diff. cover bolts with that info on it. if your jeep is a rubicon with factory gears thewill be 4.10

Look at the tag on the left side of your front differential cover. (Front and rear gearing will be the same) It will say the gear ratio on the tag. Most likely 3.07 or 3.73. It is the small tag between the two bolts on the left hand side. Your front end is a dana 30 and the rear is a dana 44 as it has a metal drain plug.

The front is a Dana30. If you have an open carrier in the rear all you have to do is
jack up 1 rear wheel

put the jeep in neutral and release the e-brake (make sure to chuck the other wheels so the jeep does not move)

make a mark in the driveshaft with anything you can see

rotate the wheel 1 revolution and count how many times the driveshaft rotates

times that number X 2 and that is your ratio.

Thanks to everyone for the help, its the 3.73 gear ratio.
