Lift Kit For My YJ???

Looking to upgrade the Wrangler. 94' YJ which is completely stock. Need some advice.

Doing some research I see that certain kits come with certain parts and others leave out other parts.

What are the key parts I will need to lift without purchasing extras

Also, after what height will my wrangler need to have brake lines moved and trannys shifted up and down. --> I want to stay under that lift number.

Thanks Everyone,

Devin

Anything after 4 inches will need extended brake lines. Rough Country sells a 4 inch lift kit that has brake line relocation brackets, transfer case drop bracket, new leaf springs for front and rear, new leaf spring bushings, new shocks, new u-bolts, track bar relocation brackets for front and rear, drop pitman arm. um I think thats it, haha. It retails for around $450. One of the best deals on the market. I just put it on my jeep and I love it. Good flex and everything. The lift kit is made for 33x12.5x15 inch tires with plenty of room.

Your jeep looks awesome.

Yes, I saw this deal! Looks awesome.

Did you put all those additions on yourself?

Also, how much did you pay for tires because I plan to get the same tires.

Thanks man...shes a fun rig. I love it!

Yea all the add ons were put on by me. The lift kit took about 6 hrs by myself.

Tires for me cost $208 per tire from Discount Tire. I paid like $35 a tire for road hazzards so if anything happens to the tires they fix em for free. Grand total installed with the hazzards, spin and balance was round $1200. They are expensive cuz they came out a couple months ago. I love them though, make the YJ super aggressive looking.

4wheelparts.com has those tires cheapest shipped with a coupon code. That's the same ones I got. And i got a full warranty on them for $80 for all 4

I wanted the M/T's. They were actually on another YJ I was looking at which I didnt get.

But a few days ago on my birthday my dad got some used A/T's from a friend for free. So im just going to deal with these for a while. Hey you cant complain about free tires

I did the 4" RC lift aswell also did a 1" shackle lift. Kit came complete and I'm super happy with it.

Don't bother with the track bar brackets though, just get rid of em!

Jeep-YJ-91 05-04-2011 10:42 AM

Nice for $80 a tire man....wow haha.

But yea my next thing is to definetly take off my rear track bar cuz it binds up some when flexing. I'm cuttin it off Sunday : )

Sorry to hijack, anyone running swaybars or sways with discos? I know the trac bars are worthless.

turdhurdler 05-07-2011 10:15 AM

I used to run my sway bars on highway, but eventually took them off completely. If you are considering getting rid of them, just drive without a bit and see if you like the ride. Then if you decide, take them off permantaly.

I drilled holes through the top bolts for my sway bars and secured them with pins. Home made quick disco's, they work great.

ditch the swaybar too.

I know this is an old thread but I'm a newbie and could use some help. I recently got myself a 94 yj and I'm hoping to lift it. I was originally thinking 3" but that rough country looks perfect. The problem is my wrangler is my daily driver. Is that suspension going to be ok for everyday road use? And if I buy that kit will I need anything else to install it?

Gr8_Gatzb 08-13-2013 03:09 PM

I just installed the RC 4" lift a few days ago and absolutely love it. Its a little rough riding but I don't mind at all. I also kept the track bars off. The hardest part for me was replacing the pitman arm. She didn't want to budge. Also I recommend spraying all the blots down with pb blaster or something of that nature.

Gr8_Gatzb 08-13-2013 03:14 PM

*about the blaster. I'd do it a few days before and soak 'em everyday until your ready.

nicks_yj 08-14-2013 12:49 AM

I was thinking about doing the rc4" lift with I think they are 1 3/4 " boomerang shackles would I be fine with the sye and the drive shaft for that our should I get a custom made drive shaft

Dantheman888 08-14-2013 11:43 AM

That's kinda my question too. If I buy this kit do I need to do anything other than install it as it comes in the package? I don't have enough mechanical know how to mess with my drive shaft too much or anything. And how rough is the ride? Have you had it on the highway yet?

Gr8_Gatzb 08-14-2013 12:23 PM

I can't answer the question about the sye, sorry. But if your doing just the 4" lift you won't need to do anything else. Everything is contained in the kit, including the transfer case drop bars. Simple to install. I've been up to 60 but that's it. The ride really wasn't bad at all.

Jeep-YJ-91 08-24-2013 06:51 PM

You wont need an SYE if you do a t-case drop. If you don't want to do that you should probably do the SYE. I took my jeep to about 75-80 no problem. Hard to say tho cuz my speedo is off due to the tires. lol

Need advice on my 89 Wrangler rear Dana

D35 C 27 spline, has a warped RH tube and leaks, had new axle seal bearing and spring replaced to only be told that the housing was bent.. It is hard to find the jeep wrangler to get another one, are there other jeeps that have a dana 35 that would fit the mount on mine or would I need to weld the mount to fit?

I went with the 4" RC also. It's great for the price.
