What's The Difference

The only Jeep that I have ever owned was a CJ7 and that has been many years ago. (about 20).
I am now about to purchase or maybe should say starting my hunt for a TJ.
Have some dumb queations.
Difference in, Wrangler X, Sahara, Sport, SE, Rubicon and any other.
Will be looking at 99, 2000, 2001.
Just sold my driver and have cash with no trade-in.
Does not matter if a 4 or 6 or auto or manual. Must be Hardtop with a/c. Color also has to be something I like.
This will be an everyday driver for me and I will add wheels, tires, front and rear bumpers and anything else that it needs.
I am not in a big hurry as my wife is going to let me use her car if I am nice to her.( I don't know why she says that, hell I paid for her car.)
When you have time, help me out on what to buy.
Thanks

if you go to jeep.com it will explain most of what your asking.
Basicilk the difference is an options package. The rest is just personal prefrance. Me I prefer the 6 over the 4 and the stick over the auto (more power and cheaper on gas) but that's just me.... either way you go you cant go wrong as long as it's a
Jeep!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of the time, the only difference is a sticker. They call them stickers, I think, because dealers will use them as an excuse to stick you.

wives say that...because we can :D :D

research the basics, dealers will say all kinds of things: example, when we were looking at a Rubicon, the dealer was raving about the extra big tires as if they were after market...well, we knew they were the stock!
good luck in your search

I would stay away from the 4cyl with the automatic, it is a real pig. The 4cyl with a stick asn't too bad. I too definately prefer the 6cyl. Other than that, it just depends on what you plan on doing with your Jeep and what you want to spend. Before you talk numbers with any dealer get all the information that you can about the Jeep you are looking at. Get print outs from Edmunds.com and KBB.com at least to let them know that you have done your homework on the Jeep they are selling.

not true. One of the biggest concerns if you are planning to take it off road are the axles. If you are planning to, you want a rear dana 44 axle (they will have the 30 in front) You can either just ask about options, or check to see if it has a metal plug (44) or plastic/rubber (35) in the read diff. Many of the sports will have the 44/30 combo. The rubicons come standard with 44 front and rear with lockers.

I also agree that you will want the 6 cyl, and the 05/06 models will have a 6 speed if you go with the manual.
