A/C Not Cold Center Not Turning

I had it looked at 2 months ago and they said nothing was wrong with it. I ran the A/C twice the week I got it back then have left it off since the tops been off. Today it rained and I had the top on and decided to run the A/C. It did not blow cold air at all. I read some threads on non working A/C and I couldn't get a clear idea of my problem.

I started the jeep then had my wife turn the A/C on....The center of the wheel spun for a brief moment then stopped. I did this three times to make sure and each time it spun for a second then stopped.

I know nothing about A/C systems but I wanted to get educated before I took it to my mechanic.

Thanks everyone.:wavey:

Sounds to me like it's low on refrigerant and not able to build up sufficient pressure to engage the pressure switch. If the pressure is too low, the pressure switch won't let the solenoid engage so the a/c compressor turns more than a second or two as yours is doing. If it was ok 2 months ago and it's not now, I suspect a leak in the system which is not hard for an a/c shop to track down.

Thanks Jerry. Where is the most common place for the system to be leaking?

There is no most common point of leakage, it could be leaking from anywhere in its plumbing connections or condenser. :)

I'd say the most common IMO would be the quick release lines near the firewall and at the accumulator. I personally don't like the quick release setup, but overall it's not too bad and seals are cheap.
