Strange Occurance...

Okay so I pick up my boat at the local marina with my 2010 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited automatic. My boat comes in at a stout 2300lbs. I tow this boat to the gas station and then home approx 15km total. I back the boat into my driveway which is on kind of a down slope so I have to use my e-brake. After detaching the boat I run to the store about 2km away still no problem. I come out of the store and start driving home and the traction control starts kicking in anytime I pass 20km/h and starts causing the rear end to fish tail to the right. It does this about 5 times and I finally make it home. I park it is the driveway call road side who advises me to call the dealership in the morning since the vehicle is safe in my driveway. Well I can't leave it at that so I take it out for another drive...it drives perfectly normal...so anyone have any idea exactly what happened? I am gunna call the dealership in the AM but I am hopeing some other ppl have experienced this phenomia because the dealership's service departement is dumber then a bag of hammers...so?

Smell anything? like a hot brake?

Taking a shot at it, E brake on one side hung up. Silly system picked it up somehow as a traction control problem. In turn it started applying brake pressure to correct the problem on the opposite wheel. Each time it did, a brake would yank you sideways.

Got home, it cooled down, e brake popped loose. No more "supposed" traction control problem the system could detect, so away you went.

I had my suspicions of the e-brake so I made sure to report that I used it. Sounds like a pretty good theroy I will see what Jeep says in the morning. There was no smell and no leaking fluids.

Well thus far nothing. It has not done it since but I have not towed with it since either. The next time I am in getting serviced if it hasn't acted up in the mean time they are going to do a complete drive line inspection to insure that everything is good.

Speaking of service. Decided to crawl under Jeep tonight and poke around a little and found both rear breaks leaking fluid :( yay! Bought it used and good thing I paid for extended warranty. Good for another 2 years. Just been one thing after another. Little things up to this point but I think I'll stay at the Dealership instead of home. Me buy lemon or lime me thinks. Just need drinks. Lol

You bought a used, modified vehicle. Ya never really know what kind of sh*t the previous owner put the Jeep through.

Very true. Got it into the shop today. May not get it out for a couple of days. :(. They gave me a rental free of change til it gets fixed. They gave me 2011 Nissan Maxipad ok a Maxima lots of power but I have to look up to everyone and it's a manual tranny! Oh well I could be walkin :p

Mr_RPM 05-31-2011 10:21 PM

That Nissan would be sweet as a temp ride. Im sure shes quick compared to the jeep. Id have fun in that thing. it would stink as a permanent car but for now, have fun.

Hellraiser, i had the same problem with my jeep when I bought it. i also have a 2 year warrenty.

i had the fuel pressure regulator bad
leaking fuel injector
and the main computer was acting funky.
all of course happens after owning the jeep for only a month or 2.
all fixed now. shes in great shape and im happy

The voice of reason you give me hope and I hope that I don't have many more problems. Nissan goes like snot! Yes I thinking you would like it Mr RPM. It's also burnin the fuel for some reason ... ya don't know why ahhum ;)

Dirty deeds ... Done with Jeeps!

Ahhh finally have my Hellraiser back! Both rear axel seals were leaking. Glad I had coverage 500$ just for parts. Anyway rental was cool but I'm in love with my Jeep! ~(8'()

Great now I have problem with rear passenger brake caliper. Dragging off and on. Yay 3 days for service. Have warranty as stated but when does it come to a point where I just do it myself? Forget offroad can't take it on road! :(. Should have checked out this form before I bought. I would never buy a Jeep with mods again. Also however had it before put wire in the grill I guess to stop damage to rad? Now a piece missing. Lots wonderful. Sounds like a couple hours job to take that apart. Looked inside and there are zip ties holding it on. I'm thinking that this cant be good for the rad?

External transmission coolers are usually just mounted with zip ties that go through the rad.

Now on another fleet car PT Cruiser - Dodge Journey back at the other dealership. Apparently screwed up my rear axle completely! When they did the original repair. So it's a really good chance I need a new one! Not a warranty thing they say! So the dealer has to eat the cost. Will find out tomorrow. They say the other dealership bent the piece behind my brake caliper now it scrapes on my brake drum and can't be straightened. Yay. Anyone else have this kind of fun?
