AC/Heat Blower Access?

The blower for the heat and AC.....access is through the fire wall? I have read if the fuse blows on the first two fan settings, the fan is probably going bad. The first two low settings creates more amperage? Makes sense I guess. The fan has always made a clicking sound.

But to get to the blower, I take off the electrical plate and the access panel is behind that?

I ordered this fuse......this is under the passenger dash?

And also the Blower fan:

Never changed one before, I gotta try. I just ordered a Chiltons book also, I have never had any problems until now. I should have gotten one earlier, but live and learn I guess.

OK guys....thanks in advance,

Dave

easy jobs but may only need resistor-sent PM

imsofaman 05-24-2011 02:32 AM

I have heard from quite a few guys who say if the resistor melts....there is high amperage being pumped in and a bad fan could be the culpret. One of my friends changed the resistor two times befor replacing the fan and wished he would have done it on the first resistor replacement. So....I will do both as my motor has a clicking sound in it. I dont trust it.

I could not have done this repair without the help from this forum.:thumb: JP2611....thanks so much for all the info. :punk:

The fan was most going bad for sure. A lot of drag and a couple twigs were in there too!
The un-assembling of the fan was easy. The plastic was stuck tight between the housing and the fan....a dirt film. She finally came off with a twist as I pulled up on the lock tab. Installing it was so much easier.

Then I went to work on the resister. What wired looking thing. My swivel head 1/4 ratchet finally came into use. I thought I would never use it again. But that was the only thing that would work. Flashlight was a must.

So....I have my low fan setting and the new blower Kicks butt!!! It has never been this powerful. I am very happy I did not have to go to the dealership.

Thanks guys!

Dave

No problem that's what people do around here-someone else did exact same thing for me here about 7-8 months ago. That 's how it works here. Glad you got it fixed!:thumb:
