What do you do for a living.....

Hey fellow Jeepers,

I am still kind of new here and was just curious as to what some of you ladies and gentlemen do for a living. I am not trying to be intrusive into anyone's business, like I said....just curious to see occupations/careers held by other Jeepers on here. Not sure if a thread has already been started like this, but what the hell. If so, apologies :D

I'll start by saying I work for a chemical manufacturing facility in Freeport, Texas, as a "process Technician" that makes coatings for the automotive industry. We make the additive that activates a polyol so the reaction will cause the clear coat on cars to harden. Pretty neat, we take lethal material and at the end of distillation/reaction it is just about harmless. I work the control board, the outside processing unit, and utilities dept (Steam generation, water treatment, Electricity , etc.).

Again, I am just curious in a non-intrusive way, just seeing the different types careers in the "Jeep Family"

shell 05-24-2011 04:52 PM

^^I sometimes wish I could glow in the dark. That way I wouldn't keep running into things when I get up in the middle of the night.

As to what I do for a living, I teach middle schoolers how to make noise on instruments all day. (I'm the one that teaches them how to annoy the household pets and parents, yeah!!! Parents love me.) Music teacher, AKA band director. Presently getting ready to take a much-needed vacation.

Yep it sure is :D! I'm very fortunate to play a role in the progress of vehicle safety as well as child passenger safety. It's all about saving lives, I can't think of a better reward than that.

Edm operator aka spark machining.

It's just a different way to machine a part.
Metal is removed by erosion ( the spark part ) rather than than using a carbide insert like a lathe or a milling machine.

By the way, forgive my sarcasm :)

My new CNC edm machine.

I am an Environmental Health Specialist for my county. Fancy name for crapper tank inspector. I permit and inspect drinking water and wastewater systems. Also own a small landscaping business with a few full time employees.

I know what CNC is. I just never heard of EDM. What kind of things do you mill with it?

Sarcasm? Didn't notice. It's rampant on this forum.
