Fuel problems

Well got tired of my jeep dying so I dropped the tank. Tank was full of trash, sock was nearly totally clogged inside of sock and solid. Is there another sock on there somewhere by the way? And the plastic clip that connects the fuel lines to the tank I broke can I just cut them off and use tie straps to hold them on?

The only filter after the sock is the "permanent" (Stupid jeep) filter in the fuel pump. If your tank is as bad as you say it is I would replace the whole fuel pump assembly just to be on the safe side.

are you talking about the line that goes from the fuel pressure regulator to the hard line on the frame? That is a very annoying line to replace because it is two different sizes. If I remember right it is 5/16 on one side and 3/8 on the other end.

I had that line leaking down the inside of the clip, both the stock on and the one I bought to replace it. I ended up taking a piece of 5/16" ID fuel line and streching it over both connections and using two hose clamps on each end, one on each side of the nipple. It hasnt leaked yet for me.

Ya it is pretty bad but I went to order the sock and it showed two you can order I don't know how it was running as good as it was. Ya the fuel line that's what I was talking about I actuallly broke two the clip would come out one side and get stuck ended up braking the little clip

I believe there should be a clip that stays on the fuel line / pressure regulator, and that line pulgs into each end and the clip holds it in place.

Ya there was a clip but they wouldn't come out on two and I had to brake the clip

Got new fuel pump drainage on tank and fuel pump fuel filter cleaned and back together ready to strap it back on. I just need to know if the end piece of the hoses going to the tank needs to be replaced since I broke the clips to lock them they seem to go on tight and still hard to get off

Holy crap did you have some junk in your tank.

as to having to replace the end... No idea...

jmpierce 05-26-2011 12:23 PM

got new fuel pump strainer

You will either need to replace the clips that lock the line to the fuel pump module or the fuel lines. If you don't have those clips the fuel pressure will bloe the fuel line off.

Can you replace the adapter the clip goes in that's attached to the line

jmpierce 05-26-2011 02:39 PM

jmpierce 05-28-2011 07:23 PM
