Part of that depends on which rear axle your talking about.
Dana 44 or Dana Turdy5

The easy answer is one size smaller then the one that's on it when it breaks :)

But honestly if you go real easy on the skinny pedal or don't wheel it very hard you can run the Turdy5. I know guy that have run them for a couple years, but you have to baby them.

Unless your talking how big of tire you can put on before you have to lift it, then the answer would be 31 X 10.5's

im not 100% sure but im pretty sure they are the 35s

33s should be good for the d35.. lockers though
35s can also work but you gotta baby it. Look at your rear diff.. does it have plastic/rubber fill plug on it or is it metal one.. this will tell you if you have 35 or 44.. hope for luck man lol

You have a Dana 30 in the front and a Dana turdy5 in the rear then

baga3636 07-15-2007 11:19 PM

so can i put 35s on?

jherrin215 07-15-2007 11:25 PM

You can put 44's on that monster for a while!!:D :flipoff: From what I have heard you can run 35's but you need to be easy with the skinny pedal!!

about how much would it cost to replace axles with dana44s?

jherrin215 07-15-2007 11:40 PM

Your front axle would be fine. It's a Dana 30. It's just the back that would need work. From what I get around here you would be better off to replace it with an 8.8 ford explorer axle that you can get at the junkyard for about 200 bucks.

J does that 8.8 just bolt on ro is there alot of work needed?

debruins 07-16-2007 09:09 AM

hmm really only $200!!

debruins 07-16-2007 09:12 AM

not a great write up but doesnt look bad if you can weld

ill keep looking though

debruins 07-16-2007 09:47 AM

looks like you can get all of the other parts as well for around $400 and then just have to do a little welding, so that bring the total to $700 probably plus a little more

heres the best write-up i found
