Mammoth Lakes Trails

What are some must see trails up in the Mammoth Lakes area? Im going up there (from Socal) to see some family and have a day or two to Jeep. Thanks to anyone who can help!

When are you going? There's still a ton of snow there, and will be for a while. With that said, Laurel Lake trail is awesome. Fun trail and very scenic.

I too think that the snow may be quite heavy in some of the higher elevations. The Laurel Lake road is good as well as the Wheeler Ridge that is down by Tom's Place. Wheeler Ridge Mine Road is more difficult than Laurel Lakes and it takes you very high up the mountain top with a view over the entire Owens Valley. :thumb:

Thinking about going in early July sometime. I have heard that there could be snow up there year round this year. I will look at those trails. Thanks guys!

I tried Laurel Lake last 4th of July. Had to turn around due to snow. There's a lot more snow this year!

I haven't done wheeler ridge yet, but I'd like to. I go up to Mammoth a few times a year. I have family that lives there. Every trail I've done up there was worth it. Nothing difficult, but gorgeous views.

Cool just what i was looking for. Wouldnt mind some snow wheeling. I have only done that once. Cant wait!

I wouldn't recommend laurel lake in the snow. The trail turns into tight switchbacks on a steep rocky slope.

This is as far as we got last 4th of July. About 3 feet of trail showing, and soft, slushy snow.

Awesome views though.
