Auburn Ected - How does it work?

hello.

in the next modifying-step i´d like to install 4.56 gears and some lockers.
last weekendi drove a TJ with that gears and two truetracs. in my opinion it was great. i could drive with that TJ easily where i stuck very fast with my TJ.
it went forward everywhere and everytime.

now i´ve read something about the auburn ected locker.
is it worth the money? i think it works like trac lock with an additional 100% locking feature, is that right?
do i need friction modifier for that locker? do i have to replace soe parts time by time like at a trac loc?
i´ve read that some people have problems with it and that it doesn´t lock 100% in their jeep.

thanks for your answer.

from this
http://www.auburngear.com/oemdifferentials/ected/
it seems that it isnt meant to be an automatic locker, but somehow be hooked up to the computer, or maybe to a switch, it i sjust an electric manual locker basicly
it seems like it would only work if you have stability control sensors and such

i fpound out that it is a 40% autmatic limited-slip locker with an additional 100% manual locker.
i found this pic (the left is the limited slip locker and the right is the clutch for the 100% manual locker):

Eaton makes something like that as well, an Electric locker. They are selectable, but power failure is one more thing that can leave you stuck. Either go with a straight up locker(Detroit/Aussie) or something like an OX.

the locker i wanted for years is the detroit electrac. a 85% automatic truetrac + a 100% manual electric locker.
but they don´t build it anymore. damn. i wish i bought it before they stopped it because i only heard good things about the electrac.

does somebody here have the auburn ected? is it reliable? does it need much maintenance?

You know I've never heard any thing good about them from the few people that have them. I was looking at them when I was looking for lockers but I decided to go with ARB's front and rear for a selectable locker and they've held up really well with the abuse I've put them through so far.

Proving my theory once again that Germans love David Hasselhoff.

its a limited slip until you turn it on then its full on locker
a friend of mine has it in his dana30 he has only had one problem with it and it was because it was the first generation model auburn replaced the unit and he hasn't had a problem since

I haven't heard tomany people running it with 35's or bigger
I like the locker but for reliability I think I would go with arb they have taken allot of abuse and seem to hold up very well plus you can up grade the compressor and have on board air
