The lock on my 98 TJ's center console is busted. Anyone know where I can get one of these locks cheap? I tried searching at JC Whitney's and jeepsareus, but I didn't find any.
My lock was also busted when I got mine.I guess that's something that breaks easy.
I would like to get a tuffy console, but I'm not sure yet. There's alot of other things I want first.
You can always upgrade to a tuffy but why even lock it? Just leave it unlocked if someone wants to get in it they will do more dmg if its locked then unlocked.
I now only carry 2 things in my console, Windex, and Paper towls. ^_^ oh and some oily rags from my tranny service.
I like to leave my garage door opener and IPASS locked when I park at the train station. Also, I occasionally bring my GPS with me, and I'd like to just lock it in the jeep, instead of taking it with me in a bag. The additional safety of a lock keeps my mind at ease, even if it really doesn't mean much.
Yeah for locking up valuables Tuffy is teh way to go... A focused criminal with a crow bar wont even be phased by a stock console that is locked. BUt a tuffy will leave him crying as he walks away.
The latch on mine was busted when I bought my TJ. I just went to the Jeep dealer and I was happy to find out that the lock cylinder is separate from the latch. I bought the new latch and put the old lock cylinder in it so there was no need to re-key.
2002Apex The center console.. you're talking about the factory subwoofer there right?
There should be a screw on the passenger side of the center console that will show when you fold the passenger seat.. there should be one in the cup holder, there should be one when you remove the booth for the shifter.. there is also 2 inside the center console. Thats all of them that were on mine.
