Hardtop Hoist with Boss storage cart

I've got a question that I've searched here (and google for) and can't come up with anything. I need a hardtop hoist for my wife to be able to remove the top...I'm in Iraq. I was home a couple weeks ago and we bought the Jeep then. This is the issue I have. I also bought a Boss storage cart to put the top on and roll it around in my garage, as I have the space. The cart attaches to the back of the hardtop with the glass closed and there is a strap that runs to the front of the hardtop. The problem now lies in the fact that the lange hoists I've seen require the back glass to be open to use. What are the other options available? No DIY as I'm in Iraq and she's not handy like that...

Thanks,
Kevin

Thought I'd bump this to see if anyone had any thoughts...

Why not just ditch (return) the cart and hang the top from the ceiling of the garage with the hoist? If you want the top down for anything you can always lower it onto the floor. It's still going to take 2 people to put the top on the cart anyways.

Chris...

Can't return the cart as it's about a month old now. The solution I was trying to come up with was a hoist that didn't require the back glass to be open. I know all the lange models do because of the "T" shaped mechanism that is attached to the rope/cable that lifts the top.

That's a tough one. I built my own from Home Depot and Harbor Freight materials. I couldn't even find the hooks I wanted so had to settle with cutting off some hooks from bike tie downs. Short of drilling through the top and adding eye bolts I haven't seen anything. I saw one that hooked on the sides and pulled the top, but that looked shady and the sides were bowed out.

I think the one that is by Harken pulls it up from the sides. Not sure though...any harken owners out there?

I bought one off of ebay that actually requires the glass to be closed to work. Has a bracket that goes in then the glass is shut. Has a hand crank on it and is attached to the ceiling by two hooks and ropes that hang on the ceiling joist. I have use it and love it. Use it to remove my hardtop then lower it to the ground on to my hardtop cart. Might be what you are looking for.

Sounds just about right...any idea of a brand name or username from ebay?

Thanks,
Kevin

See if this works

Hard Top Hoist for Jeep Wrangler JK 4 door 07-11 | eBay

It will also work for the 2 door. Also if you do not need the part to store the fronts he will take 19.95 off.
