Dark Charcoal Pearl paint

For any of the owners of the 2010 Dark Charcoal Pearl paint, if you need repairs requiring repainting make sure to let the body shop know that none of the auto paint supplier's paint using the paint code will match.

All of the paint suppliers using the Chrysler paint code has a little red in the charcoal pearl while the 2010 JK's has green with no red mixed into the charcoal. The body shop says every one of the suppliers paint match each other but will not match the color on the Jeep. They are having to special order the paint from Chrysler.

Now I won't get my Jeep until hopefully Monday. Getting frustrating. But the Car Rental place was nice enough to give me an upgrade from what the insurance was willing to pay for. Got 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee to cruise around in. Nice rice but those that think the 3.8L is sluggish has never drove a 3.7L in a Grand Cherokee.

Wow, this was an experience to say the least. Even Chrysler sent them paint that didn't quiet match. Every paint manufacture paint that matched the paint code on the Jeep came close but didn't match the color on my Jeep. they matched each other but no exact match or even almost match.

Chrysler had to send the body shop a CD on how to tint the paint to a local color match specialist just so they could mix the paint themselves. Finally got my hood painted. Suppose to be able to get my Jeep back tomorrow. I know this was a one year color but if they are going to make these limited run colors they should at least be able to supply the paint for them. Or at least have a paint code with the correct tint as the paint companies can mix it themselves.

good to hear you're getting your ride back, Rick. I wonder if it wouldn't have been easier to tell them to paint the whole vehicle for all the headaches you've had getting them to match the color...

Wow...I wonder why they would even make a paint that is so complex to match?!?!?

I'm wondering if it isn't related to the color primer used at the factory vs. The body shop. We had a problem with our Charger due to the factory using white primer, but the parts were shipped with gray primer...:(

Wow, I knew the charcoal wasnt around for long, but didnt realise it was that rare!

Will have to tell the missus to drive more carefully...

Interesting point! That would impact final color.
