MPGs with a lift
 
What size lift and tires do you have and whats your highway MPGs like?

I usually get about 21-23, and have gotten up to 24, MPGs with the stock lift and tires and some engine mods. I'm saving for my lift and just wanted to know what I am getting into as far as gas.

If your going only by what the ECO meter on your dashboard is telling you for your MPG then your numbers are wrong. 23mpg is abnormally high for a JK even in stock form and with a manual tranny. You are probably getting upper 18s to mid 19s with a stock set up and a very light foot but realistically its probably less.

1" lift
33x12.5R15 GY Duratracs
16.8-17.4 mpg city
18.0-19.5 mpg hwy

My average all around these past 8000+ miles on my 08 JK remains at 22.5 as figured by the miles/gallons at fill up on my calculator.

Granted I'm very conservative in my driving style, and 80% is on rural country roads, with little off road as of yet. I cruise at around 60-65 much of the time, and utilize other tactics learned over the years to save me a bit at the pumps.

Stock everything including 18" tires and 3.73 gears.

18" tires? Are your differentials scrapping the road?

I have a 4.5 BDS lift and 35's. I am getting around 15.5 now.

Are you guys driving with the Pat and coast method or what? I haven't seen 24mpg since i've had it unless i reset it and watch it drop

...HAR!!! ....of course that 18" is the inside diameter, Mr. daggo

and probably driving style affects it the most...

still, consider the perhaps minimal effects of the various air-dams, the increasing drag of all the undercarriage pushing thru the murky atmosphere, the frontal resistance as well as drag-suckee-shadow of the Flying Brick plus all that marvelous tubes and hangydowny stuff....as well as gearing etc.

There's a tremendous effect of such as drafting behind-and-in-front-of-large rigs for 20+ miles, which has increased my level-ground mpg indicated to nearly 30 on level ground...but I wouldn't want to do that much, its too demanding as well as a hazard....

I think lifts along affect mpg....but you can't have everything you want all at the same time, as far as I can tell.

MPG on the coast run I made Wednesday gave me 21.69mpg per miles/gal method. Lots of lower speed coastal curves and lots of RV traffic keep MPH down too.
