Teraflex 2" BB installed in less than 2hours!

Just thought I would share my install of the 2" Teraflex BB kit I got from Summit Racing for $130 out the door this morning.
http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9/3/tf2003.jpg

I got a great idea on how to get this installed quick and safe . I figured a few ramps with junk disconnected might aid in the process. IT DID!!!

Here is what I started at.... 31's and 18.5" from the ground to the body...

http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9/3/tf2002.jpg
Here is the process I did to get 2" under my TJ in under 2 hours...

1. I Got under it and disconnected the front and rear swaybar endlinks.
2. Drive up ramps with one in front and one in rear at opposite corners to get the axles to flex out.
http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9/3/tf2004.jpg
http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9/3/tf2006.jpg
3. Lift the front wheel NOT on the ramp with a floor jack and remove the wheel. Support the frame with a jackstand behind the LCA.
4. Disconnect lower shock mount and spring retainer clip...lower floor jack to enough to pull the spring out.
5. Remove the bumpstop by pulling on it, then unbolt the bumpstop cup from the spring cup.
6. Place the 2" spacer onto the upper mount and reinstall the bumpstop cup with the extension provided in the kit.
7. Slide spring back into position.
http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9/3/tf2007.jpg
8. Jack up the axle slowly to seat the spring and reinstall the lower shock bolts. Reinstall spring retainer clip.
9. Reinstall wheel and lower completed side to the ground.
10. WAIT UNTIL ALL FOUR CORNERS ARE DONE TO RECONNECT THE FRONT AND REAR SWAY BAR END LINKS.
11. Move to the opposite corner of your Jeep. ( I did right-front first, then left-rear)
12. Follow same basic procedures as front...
http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9/3/tf2008.jpg
Once all four corners are done... reinstall the end links of the swaybars on front and rear.

DONE!!

In less than 2 hours... I was done and back on the road! Now sitting at 20.5" from the ground to the body.

Nice write up! Did you get any driveline vibrations with the lift? Did you have to drop the T case?

Thanks. I try my best to write up easy to follow steps.

In fact, I did get a slight vibe. I ended up using 1" spacers to get rid of them. Easiest thing ( time consuming) start adding washers to all 6 bolts til they are gone.

markzeronine 08-12-2011 03:11 PM

nice, actually are all 4 spacers the exact same? I'm looking to do 2" front and 1" rear (since i've got a pretty bad factory rake), I'll probably have to build my own kit and it would be easy if fronts work for rears.. thanks!

They are all the same... The bumpstops are different front to rear.

One final question, Did you need to use an adapter barcket for your transfer case shifter when you installed the T case drop? Or is a 1" drop not affect the transfer case shifter?

College_fishman 09-01-2011 03:19 PM

i did the same thing, but with skyjacker bb. i am getting a little rumble when im shifting, what is that? and how the HECK DO I FIX IT :(

thanks guys and sorry for jacking this thread. i would like to get it fixxed though, esspecialy if its cheap

Shelby427 09-01-2011 08:48 PM

Nice job!!! Love the ingenuity you used in coming up with a different, and looks a lot easier way of doing it. True Jeepmanship!

Did you drop the t-case? If not that's most likely your problem. Binding on the drive shafts from the lift changing the angles.

Some get away without it, some need it done.

No brackets needed for the the shifter after the 1" t-case drop... nothing else was needed. I just put (6) 1" spacers between the T-case and frame with 6 new bolts... done.

Yea.. thanks!!! Like I said... can't complain for what I have into it!!

No... 33's will be for the 4.5" lift in the spring 2012.... this was all to 'get me by' for the time being.....then maybe the BL and MML and TT and shoot for 35's.... lol!!! IT NEVER STOPS!!!!!

Just like Shelby427 said.... you most likely need to drop your T-case like I did.... changing your driveline angle is what caused this for you....

JDintheTJ 02-12-2012 06:51 PM

Awesome post man! I currently am looking at budget boost so i can stop rubbing when i go offroad. The only question i have is did you need to buy longer shocks or can you still use stock shocks with a BL?

TnDz TJ 02-12-2012 06:56 PM

A BL has no effect on suspension parts such as shocks. And yea I still run stock shocks

Plowboy1970 02-12-2012 08:07 PM

Nice!!!!! Now I got to convince the other half I NEED to lift it!!!!!
