That is not a fuse. It is a spot that gives you an ignition "hot" source. You still need to add a fuse if you add any accessories to it.

I prefer to wire my stuff to a constant hot power source....

Can you show us pictures of the one that was on there to begin with? That will probably help more than the one that doesn't fit. Maybe it didn't have a radio from the factory and added an aftermarket...
