sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere causing a short circuit. There are a few ground points located behind the dash, including one near the a-pillar on the driver side.

You won't lose that much power. The 4:11's will give you more torque anyway and you may even consider doing 4:56 for your dana 35's. Check out rusty's for the differential gear swap kit.
