The hard clutch is probably your master cylinder. It is real easy to replace in comparison to the slave cylinder.

It wasn't too bad, it took a few hours. I added weather stripping around all the holes at the fire wall, which made a big difference on the cold drafts I was getting.

I ended up pulling it out...

Did you get the sending unit at Napa? The one I got from there did the same thing. I got one from Advance Auto that works much better. It only shows a few degrees higher than the stock one did.

I second that. I have those same tires and they do work great in the snow and on mountain jeep trails. I only got 10,000 miles on them so far and they don't show any signs of wear.

Most likely water shorting out your distributor cap. Replacing it may help, or go slower through the water so it don't splash up. I know that isn't as fun.
