There is not a whole lot that you can do to help the engine much as long as you have the straight 6. Gearing is where you could make up some of the difference though depending on your current ratio....

That link is good. Follow it. I found if I hold the handle at the 3 o'clock or 12 o'clock position it does not do it. A little annoying, but it works for me.

plugs I put in years ago. I pulled the Bosche +4 plugs the PO put in it, because they ran like garbage. I wanted to put in the auto lite double platinum plugs...

It is your Jeep and you should do what you want to it. I know that many times I have tried to get by with cheaper stuff and I have regretted it almost every time. I would rather save up some money...
