I would suggest using a wider bracket such as this. I used one from Dave's Customs. It will buy you a little margin for error, add strength, and generally make life easier. Just my $.02.

Hahaha. Mine was from a little old man who drive it to the grocery store, church, and once or twice to Red River, NM in the summer. It was a 98 with 38k when I bought it 2yrs ago.

Good call on the kit. As for the 8.8 I can only speak toward mine but with 4.56s a TruTrac and 33s I pound the stock shafts. Looking for a reason to order the c-clip elim kit and chromo axles. :-) ...
