I think I'm going to end up cutting off the one inside the speaker box, and reusing that to connect to the outside of it. That way my cable cut is safely inside the box. Well see.

Yeah I found the part I was looking for - it's called a reverse wiring harness. That and a standard metra harness will let me screw around with all the wiring I want without touching my jeeps...
