i have an 89 2.5l myself, suffering the same problem. tracked mine down to the injector leaking in the throttle body. just throwing that one out there as a possibility. good luck! :thumb:

Mine ended up being one of the u joints on the drive train. Changed all 4 on the drive train, ones on the axels were fine. Definitely check them. Cheap and easy fix.

i was in 2 wheel drive. i know i'll have to look, but i honestly don't even know where to begin looking. wheels are bolted on tight and motor mounts are solid, i at least checked that.

i ran mine a while back 89 2.5l and the catalytic converter and O2 sensor had a recall on it.they honored it, saved me a butt load of cash. always worth checking out guys. highly recommend it!

i'm having the same problem, with my 89 2.5l. just tracked down the problem myself and will attempt to fix it next week. turns out i have a slight vacuum leak around the base of the throttle body....

I'm not sure how much drain the pump pulls, honestly I'd take it to a mechanic at that point. Sometimes you just have to give in and let someone else have at it.
