I would assume wreckers use it more for cost than anything else and they run on different circumstances. Wreckers may use it, but virtually all offroad racers use synthetic.

Depends on your level of skill. an 8.8 requires welding to put on tj brackets, but if you are capable of that, the actual install is a breeze.
