I heard the steel ones are a lot easier to install. I assume this is because the steel is strong enough that it doesn't need the interlocking or bracketry to remain strong.

Yep. 35s on a non-trussed or otherwise reinforced stock axle will bend it. Mine are trussed and gusseted (front) and I still have a very slight bend.

The crazy part is that the hood fitment itself to the Jeep is perfect. And actually very well made. The only problem with fitment is the damn vents.
