If its the drivers side, it may not be a plugged cowl drain. When mine leaked, it was the door seal. A free fix it to take some pliers or channel locks and bend the lip on the tub up about 1/8...

I tried Full Synthetic for 2-3 Oil changes and decided I did not like it. I will spare the reasons why as it stirs controversy, but conventional oil works just fine on our TJ motors.
