Think I found the problem the pitman arm is...

Think I found the problem the pitman arm is loose. I'll remove it Sunday and make sure the splines aren't damaged and reinstall and see I that corrects the dead spot.

First off I know nothing about these. I have a 2001 TJ with 5" lift and long arms. I just installed the long arms and now I can unseat my front coils by about 4"s. So my question is how do I know...

I didn't think about the joint in the steering...

I didn't think about the joint in the steering shaft I'll check it to when I get home. I'm not set on high steer. If I can fix the stock steering ill wheel it like that until I break it.

Well with all that said I for sure don't want anything that will have a dead spot because that is what I am trying to get rid of now. With the 5" lift and stock steering I have about 2"s of dead spot...

The YJ has 3" lift and is my daily driver and hunting rig when I'm home but the TJ goes with me out of town when I'm working and is to play with.

Yep that's what I'm gonna do to get buy for now. I'm gonna eventually put on a long arm kit and new skid. Till then I'm gonna wheel the hell out of it.

Front driveshaft hitting skid pan

I have 5.5" of lift and the front driveshaft is real close to the skid pan and contacts the skid pan when the suspension flexes. I know a HP D30 would fix this but will it hurt to notch out the skid...

I just bought a 2001 TJ today it has a stock D44 in the rear it has 5 1/2" of lift on 35's. How much better if any is the d44 than the D35 rear.

No rust just the one dent on the fender. I does however have a dead spot in the middle of the stearing that needs to be fixed. Other than that it run and drives good and everything works.

Just bought my first TJ for $4000 it has a rustys 5 1/2" lift with 5 brand new 35x12.50 BFG KM2's a SYE and a tom woods rear driveshaft. It's a 2001 model with 4.0 and standard trany with 99000...
