I guess the 2.4 engines have a different belt system because I was able to bypass the ac compressor with a shorter belt until I had the new bearing installed. If I can find the thread and you tube...

You might have a bearing going out on the pulley. I have a 99 TJ and had a grinding noise from my compressor. I found a kit on ebay that had the bearing and other components for about $60 shipped....

Thanks Jerry! I will be picking one up this weekend. Any tips on replacing it? Never did one on the jeep 4.0 before. It looks like the serpentine belt need to come off the have better access.
