The oil pump has a by-pass so if the HV pump was to put up to much pressure it will by-pass just like any other pump does at high RMPs, I would Not install a High Pressure pump because that for sure...

I replaced mine with the Same type carb, just one from a pre-1980 CJ7, it run perfect and you don't have use any adaptor plate or make up some rigged up linkage. Just bolts right on and fine tune it...

I've not taken apart a YJ front shaft, but all the old Trucks I've had the collar did unscrew off the shaft, they had very fine threads, but they did unscrew and had packing inside to hold the grease...
