Dana 35 - humming and whining

Hey all -

I've got the base model 90 YJ making a lot of noise from the rear diff. Especially from 45-50 mph and when letting off the gas in gear. Changes with engine speed, so it's not the tires....

I am reading that the head unit has 14 watts RMS system power (50 watts peak). The speaker system has 60 watts RMS system power (300 watts peak). Is it just that I need an amp to drive up the head...

Ticking in engine

Hey all -

I've got ticking in my engine - how happy am I?

It is much more noticeable when the Jeep gets to normal operating temp. And it presents itself when the engine has very little load...

Another update

Installed the new fuel pump. My oil leak issue should be gone now.

Still getting the low end noise. I am thinking I am looking at rod noise.

Re-did the timing. Got the idle at 750-800 and set the timing to 8 degrees BTDC. Idle is smooth :-) However, my low-end noise is there when there is no load on the engine :-( I am going to...

The issue is starting off. I don't have much power at take off and usually bog down before it takes off. When I drive with the choke on about 1/3, the Jeep runs like a champ! Plenty of power taking...

I would say your best bet is to check Craigslist, jeepygirl... go to auto parts for sale and toss in "wrangler" in the search and see what comes up... you'd be surprised what is out there for sale
