I have done the 5.3 swap but used the chevy auto transmission. The NP231 will hold up fine to the power. I have also done D44 axle swaps.

It may not be drivable until you add those items. Just an FYI

I run the RC lift kit. I had the 4" on and cleared 33" tires no problem.

Now I run their 6" lift. A little stiff at first, but has settled in nicely now. Plenty of clearance and flex.

I had the 2,5. I considered the 4.0 and figured $4000 to do it.

I ended up putting. 5.3L in for about $5000. Worth every penny!

I get 22-24 mpg. Prob would do...
