No experience in your problem, but I would definitely stop drill and Thermosteel it for the time being. It can't hurt and might end up saving some cash while you save up to replace it.

That happened to me once and I ended up trashing the fuel pump trying to restart it on empty. (Hoping to get it started enough to get to the gas station)

No not really. They do gangsta lean back a little so I think I'll probably but 1/2" spacers under the back of the bracket to bring it up a bit, but door clearance is not an issue

I think I also replaced the thermostat al the same time. I did it first and it did not remedy the problem. Also very cheap and easy. Good luck again.

Just got done installing seats out of a 2000 Grand Prix into my 1992 YJ. They swapped right over with no modification. YJ brackets lined right up perfect from front to back (14") but were about 1.5"...

Sounds nice but none of the mods mentioned are that great. Nothing special about a yj with new wheels, tires, winch, carpet, cd player etc. overpriced in my opinion.
