I have a used box built by AutoToys here in Randolph loaded with dual 10" Boston Acoustic G110 subs (if I remember correctly, they are series wired).
Fits PERFECTLY in the back of a TJ.

When I'm consistent on the gas it operates as normal. Only when I'm applying the accelerator after having my foot completely off or vice versa does the chunking and bucking happen

I had the opposite problem: when I bought my Jeep I had no interior lights (the previous owner had already removed the fuse unbeknownst to me)....
