Better buy some rivets and practice first. Joining two flat pieces of metal together. You might find a You Tube Video on using a Rivet Gun. It would be wise to find one.

I replace the Block Foam pieces at the end of every summer. And or Foam that starts to pinch, squished or fold back. Those Foam Blocks are there for a reason.
