Having the same problem, I read on another thread...

Having the same problem, I read on another thread that replacing the front output yoke on the transfer case will solve the problem. Has anybody had this done? If so, how much did you spend on labor?...

Yup the O-ring probably got shredded, i had to replace my speedo gear i shredded 2 of the damn things and the dealer was the only place i could find one that would fit correctly.

Of course, as always, they sent me the wrong ring and pinion, I specifically asked for a 37 tooth ring and 9 tooth pinion, they sent me a 41 tooth ring and a 10 tooth pinion, so the axle locks up...

I'm fine with taking measurements as long as I get the correct shaft, and having it backed like that would be a great bonus. Plus having a shop do it would be a little pricey don't you think?
