I mean the water flow seems to pass through the core ok in both directions.

2003 TJ Heater Issues

You hit the nail on the head!
I ran the heater and checked the hoses running from the core and the one that runs to the thermostat housing stayed HOT but the other one running to the water pump...

I flushed my heater core and radiator thoroughly.
Refilled the radiator and even burped it properly.
Have checked my actuator switch and it's working fine.

Brand new high flow t/stat?

If you weigh up the stats the original jeep radiator was flimsy with a plastic top and bottom which surprisingly I have to say lasted around 10 years anyway but compared to this new full alloy 3 core...

The weird thing is that if I turn the heater off for a minute and then on it will be hot for 30 seconds to a minute and then slowly go cool (room temperature) again?

It could be a number of things some serious some minor.
If you like it and you sound as if you do, I recommend you getting a mechanic to check it all over before you commit.
Its worth the money...

I did that before I went on holidays but I'll do it again tomorrow.

The manufacturer actually states at least 35% to 40% cooler.
I thought it was a bit of a selling ploy at first as well but I have to say that it does actually run cooler.
I have estimated it around...

I personally would get rid of the electric fan and replace it with the original fan.
Maybe the fan is so quiet because you have an electrical issue and it stays off for extended periods of time...

Fan works fine, air con works fine just no heat when I turn the dial to heat?
I changed the radiator fluid and flushed and refilled the heater hoses with fluid...

There is plenty of coolant as I just installed a new all alloy 3 core radiator as well as a new high flow thermostat.
The jeep runs great I just have no heat coming through the vents when I engage...
