Get a Currie Anti-Rock and it'll fill the holes. Or you could probably find some plastic caps. I leave mine open so mud and debris don't get trapped inside and it's easy to wash out.

Many companies make a front part that completes the cage and runs along the side of the dash to the floor. Some are bolt in and some are weld in. OR-FAB, Rock Hard, etc make them.
