If that doesn’t work the ignition switch may be bad.

It might just be the check valve in the regulator. Rather than keep cranking, try turning the key on for 2-3 seconds, then off 2 or 3 times before going to the start position to see if that works....

Looking further I see that that same run/start wire to the ASD also goes to the rear window defrost relay. If you don’t have the hardtop that socket should be open & I think the wiring will be there....

For that low power you could use the fused ignition switch output to the ASD relay (powered for run/start), terminal 86 according to your post #6. You could even use the ASD output (terminal 87).
