Is your existing hood damaged? If not Poison Spyder, Hyline and Genright offer functional hood louvers. I installed the Poison Spyder louvers and I'm very happy with it.

For the sake of safty I don't want to say running on the 4 remaining studs is ok but I have seen done many times. I would also try to avoid high speed manuvers.
