It's coming from the rubber gaskets around the edge of the mirror. Tape them, cap them, do something to them (I put split wire loom around it) and the whistling will stop.

If it's glare from anything coming off your hood, it will help. It's like eyeblack for vehicles. Especially effective for light colors - it makes a big difference.

Was happening to me, too - I made little plastic shims that I fold over the sail... thingies before I tuck them into the tub slots, and it tightens the whole thing up. Problem solved.

I use the trail door / quick-release mirror...
