Drain the oil then Pull the cover off the axle...

Drain the oil then Pull the cover off the axle ,look at the metal in the oil , sounds like it maybe your ring gear & pinon or maybe the bearing on the pinon shaft.

One little trick my body man ,taught me was to wash the new weather stripping with alcohol before trying to install it. It has an oily film that the glue (3M brand,black) doesn't stick too.

New here on the WF,, I'm 6'2",,, for the clutch pedal I heated the pedal arm and bent it 1" to the left , works good for me.
